first impression

The layout is fairly simple but made well, the blending and brushes look great and I love the overall colour scheme. The text is easy to read and the CSS goes well with the layout. The blog and navbar don't seem to match up to the header image. There's grey visible on both sides of the blog, click here for preview. If that was sorted out then the layout would look a lot more clean overall. Perhaps it would be better to have a background which is grey with an area of white the width of the header for the blog & navbar? I think that would be nice but isn't necessary. Lastly, i'd suggest getting rid of the black top and bottom borders of the headers on the navbar, or perhaps changing them to a dark purple? The header on the blog looks much better. Overall your site looks very inviting and shows you have some real talent and I can't wait to get in (:

The resources section is well organized. There's a fair amount of content but this could be improved on. The brushes look very well made though not as original as they could be. I particularly like the second set. I think the previews could be a bit more colourful and I suggest putting credit on them to stop thieves. I think the free programs section is a good idea but i'd suggest having a little bit about each program and what you thinnk of it/use it for. I love the smilies, very cute. The icons are well made though I think some of them would look better without a border. I also think, perhaps once you've made more, you should split them into sections. The layouts sections is great, you have lots of varied unique layouts, all made very well. I think the credit on some of them though is a bit too big and it seems like if someone were to use it it would look like they'd stolen the layout? So I think making the credit smaller or putting 'layout by' before it would solve that. A lot of them also have your old site's URL on them, which could be a problem if that site is not longer up. The PNGs are mostly cut really well, i'd just suggest perhaps running a blur tool around the edges a couple of times to smooth them out. Otherwise, good selection and I like the previews. I LOVE the textures, I think they're your best resource and i'd definitely love to see more, great job. The tutorials are all very well written and cater for beginners, intermediates and advanced which is great. The CSS & homepage tutorial are really good and it's obvious a lot of time went into them which is great. I think you should definitely continue with the tutorials as you have a great skill for writing them.

You blog regularly (if a little too regularly) and you always include site updates letting visitors know what is new which is very good. You provide good material for readers to comment on and the only thing i'd suggest is perhaps talking about things going on in the world or your opinion on things - just to make them a bit more interesting. But otherwise, well written blogs.

The page about yourself is really fun to read and very informative. It's a shame there's no link to it on the sidebar though. The reviews section is well organized, I think it would be better if you had an actual form in the apply section (try emailmeform.com). The completed reviews are both detailed and useful and show you have taken time to write them. The Ask & Answer script is a great addition to your site and will prove to be very useful i'm sure. The site section is perfect, you have everything that is necessary and more, really really good job. The only thing i'd suggest is having an extreme tracker, they're really useful to you generally and when applying for affiliates.
